Superintendent's Message: Tuesday, February 24- Remote Instruction Day

Dear Port Washington Families,

I hope you and your families are faring well in today’s storm and are staying safe and warm.

Due to the magnitude of the storm and the anticipated impact on road conditions, schools will be closed again tomorrow, Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Tuesday will be a Remote Instruction Day.

We will follow our two-hour delay remote schedule, meaning the instructional day will begin two hours later than usual and conclude at the regular dismissal time.

Students should log into Google Classroom to access Google Meet links and instructional materials. Teachers will use a combination of live instruction and independent work, and attendance will be taken at the start of each instructional period. Elementary specials, AIS, ENL, and related services will meet virtually according to their regular schedules. Building-specific details will be shared by your child’s principal.

Because we are coming off February recess, our Pre-K through Grade 2 students did not bring their school-issued iPads home. We understand that some students may not have access to a device. Families should do the best they can under the circumstances and communicate directly with their child’s teacher if technology access presents a challenge. Our staff will work with you to provide flexibility and support.

All after-school and evening activities are canceled. Transportation to BOCES, private, parochial, and special needs schools is also canceled.

Thank you for your continued flexibility and partnership as we navigate this storm together. Please stay safe.

Sincerely,

Gaurav Passi, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
